Starting with a scenic train ride from Cusco through the Sacred Valley and along the Urubamba River, this journey offers a serene and picturesque approach to Machu Picchu. Upon arrival in Aguas Calientes, you’ll have leisure time to enjoy local hot springs or explore artisanal markets before settling into your accommodation.
The following morning, you will catch an early bus to Machu Picchu, entering the site with the dramatic early morning light enhancing the stunning Andean views. Guided by an expert, you will explore the main districts of the citadel, learning about Inca architecture and history, with ample time for photography and optional hikes to the Sun Gate or Inca Bridge. This tour is perfect for families, couples, and travelers who wish to experience the magic of Machu Picchu comfortably and comprehensively.
We will pick you up from your hotel between 10:00 a.m. and 10:20 a.m. for the one-hour-and-forty-minute drive from Cusco to the train station in Ollantaytambo. On our arrival, we will board the train for the two-hour scenic rail journey to the small town of Aguas Calientes. Our staff will be at the train station to meet you and take you to your hotel. You will have the afternoon free to visit the local museum or relax at the thermal baths. In the evening, our guide will visit your hotel to provide you with all the information you need for the guided tour of Machu Picchu.
In the early morning, you can either walk to Machu Picchu, departing around 4:30 a.m. to catch the sunrise, or take a 30-minute bus ride, with buses leaving every 15 minutes. Upon arrival, you’ll join your guide and group for a two-hour guided tour of the ruins, visiting key attractions and learning about their history. After the tour, you’ll have free time to explore further, visit the Inca Bridge or Sun Gate, before taking a bus back to Aguas Calientes. From there, you’ll catch a train to Ollantaytambo, where staff will escort you back to Cusco.
