Embark on a 4-day Inca Trail adventure, traversing ancient paths, breathtaking landscapes, and historic ruins, culminating in the majestic Machu Picchu.

TOUR DESCRIPTION

The Classic Inca Trail is celebrated as one of the top 10 treks globally, unmatched for its ecological diversity and archaeological treasures. Spanning 32,952 hectares, the Machu Picchu Historic Sanctuary is home to a network of Inca paths, numerous archaeological sites, 10 distinct ecological zones (ranging from glacial peaks to tropical forests), over 450 bird species, 200 types of orchids, and the legendary city of Machu Picchu.

Itinerary

DAY 1

Cusco – Wayllabamba

Early pickup from your hotel to start the tour, heading to Ollantaytambo where you can have breakfast, buy snacks, or bamboo trekking poles. Continue by vehicle to Km 82 Piskacucho (2700 m), the Inca Trail access point, where you’ll show permits and personal documents. Begin your trek on the Inca Trail, reaching Patallacta (2750 m) after about 2 hours, where you’ll explore the archaeological site with your guide. Enjoy a delicious lunch prepared by our chef, then continue to our first campsite at Wayllabamba (3000 m) for dinner and overnight stay.

Wayllabamba – Warmiwañusca – Pacaymayu

After a hearty breakfast, hike 9 km to the highest point of the Inca Trail, Warmiwañusca (4200 m), known for its challenging stairs. The descent features stunning views and diverse flora. Arrive at the Pacaymayu campsite (3600 m) for dinner and overnight camping.

Pacaymayu – Wiñayhuayna

Following breakfast, trek 15 km through lush vegetation and visit several archaeological sites, starting with Runcurakay (3970 m), known for its strategic towers. Continue to Chaquiycocha for lunch, then hike to Phuyupatamarka (“above the clouds”) and through a rock tunnel to Wiñayhuayna for an overnight stay. The trek lasts around 7 hours.

Wiñayhuayna – Machu Picchu – Cusco

Wake up at 4:30 am for breakfast and bid farewell to the team. Descend to Machu Picchu to witness the sunrise, bringing a flashlight for the route. Pass through the final checkpoint to reach Inti Punku (Sun Gate) and then Machu Picchu for spectacular views. After storing your belongings, enjoy a guided tour of the Inca citadel. Return to Aguas Calientes for lunch (not included), then take the train to Ollantaytambo and a bus back to Cusco.
