Huchuy Qosqo 2 Days
2 DAYS Huchuy Qosqo Trek Embark on a transformative journey…
Puerto Maldonado, situated in southeastern Peru’s Madre de Dios department, is renowned as the “capital of biodiversity” due to its proximity to the Amazon rainforest. About 45 km southeast lies Tambopata, a province famed for its significant role in biodiversity conservation. The Tambopata National Reserve, a major tourist destination, offers diverse flora and fauna, along with opportunities for hiking, exploring lakes and rivers, and interacting with local communities.
Upon arrival at the airport or bus terminal, you’ll be transferred to the office for registration before heading to the port captaincy. From there, a one-hour boat ride will take you to the lodge. After a refreshing welcome juice made from local fruits, you’ll check in and settle into your room. Enjoy a relaxing break before embarking on a two-hour guided walk through the tropical forest, where you’ll discover ancient trees and diverse wildlife, including toucans, macaws, monkeys, and more. In the evening, search for white caimans and possibly spot capybaras on the Madre de Dios River. Conclude your day with dinner and rest at the lodge.
Rise early at 4:30 am for a boat trip to the world’s largest macaw clay lick, “EL CHUNCHO.” This 1.5-hour journey may offer glimpses of capybaras, tapirs, and even the elusive jaguar. Upon arrival, witness a breathtaking display of hundreds of parrots and colorful macaws at the clay lick. After this unforgettable experience, return to the lodge for breakfast and relaxation. Later, explore the botanical garden with a guide, see a variety of plants, and enjoy lunch. In the afternoon, kayak on the Tambopata River, enhancing your chances of spotting larger wildlife. The evening is yours for rest or a possible night walk.
After breakfast, we’ll board our boat for the return trip to Puerto Maldonado, retracing our route. Upon arrival in the city, we will transfer to the airport terminal for your onward journey.
