The Short Inca Trail adventure to Machu Picchu begins with an early departure from Cusco, followed by a 2-hour drive to Ollantaytambo Train Station. From there, we take a train to Km 104, where we will start our trek after passing a control point to verify our identities.
Our journey begins at Chachabamba with a guided tour, followed by a 2-day hike through the cloud forest, showcasing orchids and stunning views. We’ll explore the archaeological site of WiñayHuayna and enjoy lunch before continuing toward the Sun Gate. Here, we’ll get our first view of Machu Picchu bathed in evening light. After descending through the citadel and capturing some unique photos, we’ll head to Aguas Calientes for the night, with time to explore Machu Picchu the next day. Our adventure concludes with a pleasant dinner at your hotel.
You’ll need to rise early for a 4:30 am meeting with your guide to begin the 90-minute hike to Machu Picchu in time for sunrise. Ensure you bring your documents to validate your ticket at the entrance.
Once inside, you’ll enjoy a 2-hour guided tour of Machu Picchu, exploring key sites and learning about Incan history. You’ll also have an hour of free time to explore on your own or to climb Huayna Picchu or Machu Picchu Mountain if you choose. Afterward, we’ll take a CONSETTUR bus back to Aguas Calientes for lunch before boarding the evening train to Ollantaytambo. From there, private transport will return you to your hotel in Cusco, marking the end of our Short Inca Trail adventure.
