2 DAYS Huchuy Qosqo Trek Embark on a transformative journey…
The native family of the Machiguenga ethnic group warmly welcomes you. They are one of the many indigenous communities in the Peruvian Amazon that will showcase the cultural heritage of their ancestors, their language and customs, traditional attire, hunting techniques, craftsmanship, and the music played during the ayahuasca ceremony.
Upon arrival at the airport, you’ll be transferred to our office in Puerto Maldonado. Store any non-essential luggage and board a 40-minute boat ride along the Madre de Dios River to our Amazon Lodge. You’ll be greeted with a refreshing fruit drink and receive key information about your stay. After lunch and rest, begin your rainforest adventure with a visit to a Brazil nut camp and a rubber tapper camp, where you’ll learn about latex extraction. The day’s activities include a 2-hour trek and a night boat ride at 7:00 PM for a “Caiman safari” to spot riverbank wildlife.
Begin your day at 5:30 AM with coffee before heading to Lake Sandoval. After a 20-minute boat ride and a 3 km trek through Tambopata National Reserve, you’ll reach the lake. Explore by rowing boat, seeking river otters and observing diverse wildlife. Enjoy breakfast amidst nature before returning to the lodge for lunch at 1:30 PM. In the afternoon, visit one of two observation towers for birdwatching and sunset views, then explore a Brazil nut camp. Finish your day with free time to relax by the pool, get a massage, enjoy a drink, or shop at the boutique.
8:00 AM: Enjoy breakfast at the lodge.
9:00 AM: Visit a Machiguenga native family to explore their cultural heritage, including their language, customs, traditional attire, and crafts, as well as their use of natural products.
11:00 AM: After a 20-minute riverboat ride, visit a local farm to taste tropical fruits and native products like cacao and yuca.
1:00 PM: Return to the lodge for lunch.
2:00 PM: Enjoy free time to relax at the lodge, visit the boutique, swim in the pool, enjoy a cocktail, or get a massage.
5:30 AM: Start the day with hot coffee before a 20-minute walk to the parrot clay lick to witness vibrant parrot species feeding on essential clay.
8:00 AM: Enjoy breakfast and free time.
Following breakfast, transfer by boat to Puerto Maldonado, where you’ll visit the local market to explore regional products. Finally, head to the airport for your flight check-in.
